Limits

Scanning. It wasn’t as boring yesterday. No, I don’t have to scan every photograph that's out of focus, blurred, or with unrecognizable contents. That helps with the pressure I put on myself with this project. I liked finding daughter Lenora looking so vital and wonderful. There’s a long period of Lessa where she certainly looks less, but it's nice to catch a glimpse of the painting behind her.

There too I see long ago friends that now have diabetes or prostate cancer. There I find an image of another friend young, vital, and drunk now today a swollen caricature of himself after heart surgery that went wrong. I scan these and smile at the old memories not thinking of the now.

Sometimes my old scanner burps and makes duplicates. Or is it the computer. Norton continually tells me that another Trojan Horse has been defeated. I think the reality is that antique piece of hardware doesn’t like the modern Firefox. I’m continually grateful that I own a scanner and computer that are compatible. I persevere…rather doggedly and begin a new sonnet about scanning the past.
